This product includes a unit overview for each unit which includes weeks, suggested dates, focus, activities, TEKS, misconceptions, and take-aways, as well as notes to the teacher, a calendar full of daily activities, and a separate resource page…49 pages of writing instruction.

**NOTE: YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST 2 OF GRETCHEN BERNABEI’S BOOKS TO COMPLETELY FOLLOW THE DAILY LESSONS**  I’ve listed Fun Size Academic Writing, Crunch Time, and Story of My Thinking, but I’ve only referenced one lesson in Story of My Thinking, so you COULD get by without that one.  However, I would definitely purchase ALL of them…I PROMISE you won’t be disappointed!!

If you haven’t gotten your copies of her books, you can click here to get the best prices or even a bundle!  While you’re there, pick up a copy of Grammar Keepers, too!!

You can click here to grab your copy before the sale ends!

All the lessons that you have seen here on my blog are included in the daily activities, so if you like what you see here on my blog, you will definitely like this product!!

  1. You are amazing!! Thank you for all this hard work!!! Yay!

  2. I love the look of your blog site! Way to go Kayla!

  3. I just bought your scope and sequence and it looks amazing. I can’t wait to use it. I was just wondering where I might find some of these resources that you have listed. Where are the icons for Writer’s Tools Chart and the grade 4 remediation packet? Thanks!

    • Kayla Shook says:

If you look in Crunch Time, there is a list of icons there. I also have a picture of my Writer’s Tools anchor chart under the Anchor Charts tab on my blog…I think. If not, I’ll make sure to put one there.

      • I didn’t find the anchor chart:( What exactly is the plan sheet? Is that the text structure?

        • Kayla Shook says:

The anchor chart is now on my blog under the tab “Anchor Charts.” I revised that page, along with the Writer’s Workshop page. At the top of the Writer’s Workshop page you will find resources for the scope and sequence. You will find the plan page there.

    • Kayla Shook says:

The Remediation packet is also on my blog under the Writer’s Workshop tab. Scroll to the bottom and it’s under the section that has things from Gretchen.

    • Thanks!

  4. Could this be used in 7th grade?

    • Kayla Shook says:

A lot of it, yes. The books that I used with the S&S go all the way through high school. I would add in some more rigorous lessons, though. I would also suggest having students in upper grades do some upgrading to existing pieces in their notebooks during the short weeks rather than creating a new one. I guess it just kind of depends on where your kids are, but Grethen’s strategies are good for just about any grade! 😉

  5. I just started using this in my class TODAY! First day of school and feeling great about this product! Thank you!

  6. I have been using your 4th grade writing scope and sequence, and my students and I love it! I was wondering if the quickwrite has a procedure to it. Should I be timing the kids as they write or give them any particular direction? I am a little behind because I started late, but I am looking at the 3rd of Sept. on your planning calendar.
    Thank you!!

    • Kayla Shook says:

Hi, Shelly! When I say quickwrite, I just mean to let them write for a little bit about a topic of their choosing. If you are doing journaling with grammar, you are killing two birds with one stone. 😉 Thanks for your sweet feedback! I’m glad you are enjoying the scope!
