FREE Resources From Me to YOU!

It’s been awhile since I posted.  I’ve been so busy creating resources for my kiddos, that I’ve totally forgotten to blog about some of them and share them with you!

First up: Sentence Wringer Document

This is a chart I made for my classroom from Gretchen Bernabei’s book, Grammar Keepers.  If you use GK, you know exactly what this is!  If not, you should definitely check out this book!  I can’t speak highly enough about it!  My students are able to use homophones and understand the meaning behind those words MUCH better since I started using this book.  It is a MUST in any grammar/writing classroom!  You can purchase it here.

Anyway, here is a look at the chart (click on it to download the PDF file):

It’s nothing too fancy, but I needed a reference up on my walls, so this is what I created.  Now…you may be wondering what that last part on the “Yes” section is…yeah, my students realized that if you use an AAAWWWUBIS in the front of a complete sentence and add a comma between that complete sentence and the one following, that this would be a legal way to join sentences.  My STUDENTS came up with that…all because of Grammar Keepers.  So….tell me again why you haven’t started using this book…??  😉

Next Up: STAAR Revising, Editing, and Spelling Rules

Some of you have asked me about what sort of resource I allow my students with accommodations to use on their STAAR test.  Frankly, I didn’t have one…and I had never heard of people using such a thing!  So I did my research and found that you can, in face, create something that students may use on their STAAR test to remind them of the rules as long as it has NO examples on it.  Well, HELLO!  I needed this in my life!IMG_4228

Remember: Not EVERY student can use this on STAAR; only students who have certain disabilities in reading.  Luckily, all of my students who have a 504 for Dyslexia and IEP’s are able to use this!  It MUST be something that students use in class regularly, so we began using this right after Christmas break.  I actually made a copy for ALL of my students to use to check their work when we do revising and editing practice.  They like that they can justify their answers based on our “yellow sheet.” (I run it on bright yellow paper so that it can be easily found!)

Click –> Grammar Chart for STAAR to download a copy.

If you didn’t get a chance to read my last post, you should.  There was another freebie there.  It is a PDF file that you can work just like a PPT to show students how to add in topic and concluding sentences.  Just scroll back on the home screen or click here for that.

I hope your year is going well!  That test is RIGHT around the corner!!  I’m ready!  Are you?!

I recently hit 200 followers on Facebook, and as a celebration, I created a cute “Letter to my Teacher” page that students can fill out and color.  I used black and white line clip art from Melonheadz, always a favorite!  It’s nothing huge, but a simple thank you to all of my followers.

Ce—lebrate Good Times, Come On!

If you hear someone screaming with excitement, it’s probably me! My new blog design is up, and I’m head over heels in LOVE with it! Isn’t it amazing?!?!

Ok, ok. I know you don’t care nearly as much as I do, but I was just so tired of the boring old WordPress template! I’m so stinkin’ excited to have something that is much more visually appealing.

May I add…if you need a blog upgrade or redesign, head over to Etsy and check out Sweeties Studio. Natalie was simply AH-mazing. I think our total message count back and forth was over 100! She was so patient with me and did everything I asked her to do…and more! And her prices CANNOT be beat!

I also recently hit 200 followers with my blog subscriptions and Bloglovin’ followers. In celebration of these two welcomed changes, I’m doing what all bloggers do–HOSTING A GIVEAWAY! 😉

4 fabulous bloggers and TpT sellers have agreed to give away products from their TpT stores. The best part…WINNER’S CHOICE!!

Paulas Place

Tara from 4th Grade Frolics, Nikki from Melonhedz, Paula from Paula’s Place, and Farley from Oh Boy 4th Grade have all graciously agreed to be a part of the giveaway. Be sure to stop by their blogs and tell them THANK YOU! **Feeling loved**
